Andaaz, A Bespoke Family Cookbook Publishing Service
Food is memory. Love. Family. History.
Our favourite stories, deepest emotions and strongest memories are built around food. Families and friends gather to eat. In love, we want to share meals with partners. Whatever part of the world we come from, and however we define family and our chosen ones, food is the language of love. And the most precious family recipes are shaped by andaaz, that indescribable, magical instinct that makes everything more delicious.
When Shruti Taneja and Chinmayee Manjunath first spoke, they connected over the importance of gathering and preserving family recipes.
Andaaz was born of this conversation and a shared passion for helping people archive and pass on heirloom recipes and family histories. Named for the instinctual way in which home cooks of the sub-continent create and pass on recipes, we want to make preserving rich culinary traditions across communities and countries the rule and not the exception.

FAQs
What do we include in the book?
Our standard format is a 60-page book which includes front and back covers, 25 recipes, a foreword, acknowledgements and/or end notes (if any), and 6 to 8 personal photographs.
How long will the process take?
We usually try to wrap up each project within 6 weeks, by working with you closely. However, it depends on how fast you share the recipes and the content with us.
We would love to do this but just do not have the time to piece all the recipes and stories together. Can you help with that?
Yes! For an extra fee, we can have a member of our team record and/or transcribe recipes and stories from family members. We also assist with photography, if needed. These costs are calculated based on the scope of work.
Do you provide editorial services too?
Yes, Chinmayee Manjunath will be working with you closely to edit the content of the book. She has previously worked with renowned chefs and writers as a books editor and comes with 15+ years of experience in publishing. https://chinmayeemanjunath.com/
Will I be able to choose my design?
At Nivaala, we take pride in creating lushly-designed heirlooms. So yes, we will share design templates of recipe pages for you to choose from to make your own.
What is the maximum number of books I can order?
Fortunately, there is no limit. The pricing will differ, and we can share an estimate according to your requirements.
"I had the most pleasant experience working with Chinmayee and Shruti at Andaaz. The whole idea was something that I found incredibly personal which is what drew me to it to begin with. What they do at Andaaz is beautiful in the sense that you work with a team to preserve a piece of history and make it accessible to pass down to future generations. Everything from helping me compile the copy to presenting in a way that I envisioned, Chinmayee and Shruti just made the whole process so seamless. I highly recommended working with them. The joy on mothers face when I presented this cookbook to her on Christmas morning is look I will never forget. Thank you again :)" - Keegan Crasto
"For long I have been writing thoughts and ideas to put together a book with family memories and food stories. A part of me was bullish about it (all in the head) and the other parts had no idea how I will make it happen. The universe did its magic and in the most unexpected way I came across Andaaz publishing and the forces behind it, Shruti and Chinmayee. Had it not been for them, I would have hidden in a corner, telling myself this is not good enough and continued to dream of it. Simply put , Shruti and Chinmayee handheld me to make my dream come alive. I wanted to do something special for my mother’s 90th birthday and if I wasn’t sure while putting it together, I am absolutely sure now, that there couldn’t be a better gift than this. It puts a smile on her face every time she look at it. This book is my way of saying thank you to the wonderful people who made up my world, who taught me how to eat, how to feed and how to love. And I met them because my mother and father created that world." - Anusha Khan
